"And though she be but little, she is fierce" ~ William Shakespeare
As you enter the pub, take a look around and notice the decor we have inside. Every detail of LBP was carefully thought of and planned. We wanted to highlight the charm of the building and our great town while also bringing in the new. There are hints of history all around, as well as reflections of who we are today.
While we were getting everything ready for opening, our youngest daughter, Piper, was in Pre‑K and often hanging around after school. No matter where the "little tile table" was moved during renovations, she was always found sitting at it. It became "her spot," and to this day, that "little tile table" remains, reminding us of the time she spent there. If you look closely at the wall with our menus on it, you’ll find her little handprint from when she touched the wet paint. We didn’t get upset; we left it there, a memory, a tiny little Piper hand on the wall. 💙🖐️
The building is rich with history, and along with that comes a lot of spiritual activity, especially being so close to the river, where spirits tend to travel along. There have been numerous happenings involving the spirits that hang around, never malicious or scary, but quite funny and entertaining. Stanley is our "Pub Protector & Keeper." He is our most prominent spirit and a bit of a joker, often letting his presence be known, usually when we’re not open. We welcome our spirits here (well, most of us do 😉) and love to talk about them with anyone interested in the supernatural.
On your way out of LBP, take a look at the photos in the entryway. They show a timeline going as far back as we have photos of our building.
We hope you enjoy everything we’ve put into making LBP the spot we envisioned during the planning phase. We are humbled by the community support we receive, and we are so very thankful to continue meeting so many amazing and interesting people along the way. We aren't fancy around here, we know we aren’t for everyone, and that’s okay. But we sure do like to have fun, offer a place where you can feel welcome, get a bite to eat, sip a cold drink, and share some good conversation.
